2025 Jam
In 2025, Sound Sorcery hosted eight fortnightly jazz jams at The Bearded Tit, an accessible queer-friendly venue that supports marginalised creatives. This year, supported by Creative Australia, City of Sydney, Heaps Normal & The Bearded Tit, we were able to expand the project to offer additional workshops, visual collaboration with videographers, additional mentorship opportunities, and a research project that delved deep into digital jazz archives.

"There is nothing like sound sorcery in Sydney, or perhaps all of Australia. This is a unique and incredibly valuable space that is so desperately needed in a heavily male-dominated music scene. I never ordinarily participate in jams, but this place makes me feel so at home and so valued. Being part of a community of women and gnc and trans musicians makes me feel proud and lucky and in place, and I cannot recommend this event strongly enough. This is how we change culture and create pride - by making everyone feel special and safe to both be themselves, and to express every part of that self in all the ways that they feel."
